  2. Tristan Blackburn | 24 | Chase Crawford

    [ OPEN | RESERVED | TAKEN ]

    • Tristan is a professor at the Shadowhunter Academy. He loves being an educator. He can fight like the rest of the Shadowhunters and he’s extremely apt with a long sword, but that’s not his calling. He loves information and he loves conveying it. He’d rather be in a classroom than on the battlefield not because he’s a coward, but because his love for knowledge is so great that he wants to inspire young minds and make them see how powerful a weapon it can be.
    • He has a younger sister, Haven, who is eighteen and who he is quite close to. He has an amicable relationship with both of his parents, both of which are alive. However, his parents are at odds, always fighting and he often finds himself the peacemaker in the family. He loves his parents, but he wishes they would stop fighting.
    • He is not open regarding his sexual orientation because of the mindset of those around him. He is rather close with one of his students: Hodge Starkweather.

  3. Robert Lightwood - Accepted!

I FIGURED WE REALLY NEEDED HIM SO I DECIDED WHY NOT. Hopefully that’s alright?

Name: Paige. Yes - YOU KNOW WHO I AM.

    Age: 18

    Timezone: Central.

    Character: Robert Lightwood.

With your character in mind, write a 2-3 paragraph sample of your writing:

The class was quiet, everyone’s heads bowed and their attention on the book set before them. Robert Lightwood’s attention though, was elsewhere. With a quick glance over towards the instructor, who seemed like he could be doing more important things with his life than teaching this history class, his dark brown eyes found their way back to the brunette across the room and a few desks towards the front. Maryse Trueblood. Always so focused on her academics, sometimes he was surprised that she had time for a social life.

Most people would wonder why Robert Lightwood would bother gawking at a girl from across the room when he should have been paying attention to his work. Well truthfull, he had finished this book weeks ago, so what else was he to do? Maryse was… stunning. Either way. It wasn’t like he was wasting his eye sight on something not worthy of it. Even just sitting there, Robert found himself completely enraptured by every little thing she did. Be it the way her brow furrowed when she was thinking, or how she tapped the tip of her pen against her lips when she paused to write, even the occasional brush of her dark hair when it seemed to be disrupting her vision.

He couldn’t help it. He really couldn’t.

When was the last time he even harbored feelings for someone that were on this level? Normally he didn’t bother. Standards were something he held for himself, and even though many women had come onto him - he had turned them down. He knew what he wanted and even though he felt a slight guilt eat at him every time he turned those girls down, he knew what was right. Why bother wasting his own time as well as theirs with a relationship that probably wouldn’t even last a week? Useless. He knew what he wanted in a girl. He blinked when Maryse sat up straight, causing him to snap out of his thoughts abruptly and shift in his seat a bit, watching as she rolled her shoulders back and sighed quietly before shutting her own book. She paused for a moment - and Robert read the action easily, turning his gaze away and onto the open book before him just as Maryse began to turn her own gaze behind her. When her own brown eyes found him, she was clueless to the fact that he had been watching her.

Yes, Robert knew exactly what he wanted.

Write a bit about your character’s personality/relationships/history and opinions regarding the political statuses within the Accords:

Robert grew up in a very pristine family, and he developed his belief through their own. Nothing in his life has ever shaken him from his belief in the Angel Raziel, and he views himself as blessed and special compared to others for holding the Angel’s blood in his own viens. So in a way, he loves being looked at as a Shadowhunter. He loves the power and authority it brings him when he states what he is, but the only thing he has yet to quite grasp onto is facing demons.

He has courage and pride - but even he, sometimes, has things to fear. Most of the Shadowhunters at the academy are accustomed to demons and have seen them all, Robert included, but he lacked in actually facing one on his own. Which scares him. He trains harder in fighting and studies more on demonogly than most, thinking that perhaps if he knew everything about the demons, they wouldn’t be so frightening when he faces them himself. Robert Lightwood is a strong character but he knows having a fear of facing the one thing that truly makes him a Shadowhunter is a huge flaw, so he hides it. From almost everyone. His family as well as Maryse. The only person who knows about it is his parabatai, Michael.

His relationship with Michael is very strong, and in ways he looks up to the other, even though he’s the older of the two. Of course, his family having adopted his parabatai into their family, he has a bit of a protective side over the other that he tries to hide for the most part. They have a brother like bond - so when Michael shows interest in joining the Circle, Robert can’t help but develop a slight interest as well for the sake of Michael not having to join on his own.

Of course, Marsye Trueblood being apart of the Circle was also a big contribution to his joining.

After hearing of Valentine’s plans, not only did he view the Shadowhunter in a respective light at his sheer intelligence and bravery, but he figured that if he joined the Circle - maybe he would be viewed in that manner too. He could lose his fear of demons and along the way help the world he lives in become perfect in every way. He wants to impress his family as well as impress Maryse, so in a way his joining has to do with his parabatai and his love interest. But along the way he develops respect for Valentine and his plans.

  4. Before The Uprising

    Before The Uprising

Before the Uprising the families we know and love from The Mortal Instruments were barely adults starting out with their own ideals and morals. They experienced love, loss and many things in between.

In a society that is changing, but not changing quickly enough, the youth born into that generation hold the power. Those that have have the ideas, and the drive, will prosper and Valentine is a man with many of them. It’s not simple enough to just say what you believe in anymore.

    Will you take a stand?

    • Celine Bellefleur - Accepted!

      Name: Kelsey

      Age: Fourteen

      Timezone:Central

      Character: Celine Bellefleur

      Writing sample:

Celine was staring across the square at Stephen and Amatis. By the Angel, she was in love with him. All she ever did was think about him. What was he doing? Where was he? Who was he with? And the answer to that—all of them, probably— was Amatis. Celine had tried to be nice to her, tried desperately to befriend her, but she thought maybe Amatis suspected that she was just trying to get to Stephen. Which, to be fair, she kind of was, even if she wouldn’t admit it. And she loved him, those feelings were normal. They had to be, right? Of course, those are the feelings that everyone wants. And she had them, that counts for some—

“No,” she chastised, running a hand through her long, blonde hair. “You don’t love him.” Of course she was talking to herself, she often did when it came to him. So often that she had to hope he didn’t notice. That boy was poison to her, the very thought of him leaked through her veins at all times, plaguing any thought in her head and every beat of her heart. It wasn’t healthy, it wasn’t normal, but it did feel good. She wasn’t happy, but she knew she could be with him. It didn’t matter how long he was with Amatis, she would find a way to be with him. Even if it meant joining the circle, where she did not want to be.
